http://great-smoky-mountains-park.org/history-culture/embed A stakeholder consultation meeting was held in Regina on Thursday, January 24th to bring together funders, grantees, and academics to discuss the website and the needs in the community. Great suggestions were provided, and improvements based on the feedback have already begun. Over the next four months, you will see the website change and take shape to provide a robust repository of documents and resources, as well as improved networks to find money for your nonprofit or charitable organizations.
incommunicably Funders in the West is a six-year project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Funders in the West represents the Western Hub of the national partnership-oriented research on philanthropy, known as PhiLab. As Funders in the West looks to expand services to meet the needs of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia content will change and expand.
The $80,300 SSHRC grant is currently being used to hire two graduate students: one to design a website; and another graduate student to manage the content and enhance the website’s partnership networks for the duration of the project. The graduate student responsible for designing the website will also support the creation of an ‘available grants’ page that will include a searchable list of foundations, which will include the foundations focus area and geographical funding area.
Funders in the West is excited to undergo improvements that will bring forward evidence-based research on grant-making foundations, educate and promote awareness about grant-making foundations, and enhance current networks and facilitate new collaborations between researchers, grant-making foundations, nonprofits, and charities.
